A fair number of people have expressed interest in heading to UNCW for their climbing competition. At the conclusion of the Flatlander’s Fling, we’ll help organize carpools for those wanting to watch or compete in UNCW’s Seaside Scramble.
MooseJaw, online retailers of fine outdoor equipment with crazy marketing people, have agreed to sponsor the Flatlander’s Fling and Eastern Edge Series! Look for the madness to descend upon the series!





With University of North Carolina-Wilmington’s Seaside Scramble climbing competition, East Carolina University’s Flatlander’s Fling climbing competition form the Eastern Edge Climbing Series. Win more prizes. Meet more climbers. Climb more!
The first competition will be held on Saturday, February 20th at East Carolina University and culminate on Sunday, February 21st at University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 female and male finishers in each division per competition and to the top overall competitors for the Eastern Edge Series.
The Eastern Edge Climbing Series will follow the red point format, with point values awarded for all routes completed. Beginners and through expert climbers are welcome to participant and enjoy the comradely of the Eastern Edge climbing scene.

The 13th annual Flatlanders Fling Climbing Competition will be held on Saturday, February 20th 2010. More details to follow in the coming months. |

The Discover Outdoor Center annually hosts a Climbing Competition called the Seaside Scramble. Taking place at UNCW’s indoor climbing wall located in the Student Recreation Center, this competition includes five competition levels with great prizes from our sponsors. It’s a great way to enjoy a weekend at the beach and some first-rate climbing as well.

Beginner Open (5.8)
Men’s Intermediate (5.8 - 5.11)
Women’s Intermediate (5.8 - 5.11)
Men’s Advanced (5.11 +)
Women’s Advanced (5.11 +)
(Competitors must beat least 14 years of age and minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.)
Photos can now be found on our Flickr site. If you took photos and are willing to share, please email photos to adventure@ecu.edu and we will make sure they are put up.
We are also currently working on a video of the action. Once we have it ready, we will email the competitors, link to it here, put it on the ECU youTube channel, and on the main adventure.ecu.edu website.
